about
Tami Bone grew up in the rough and tumble of deep South Texas where she spent a childhood blessedly free and driven by her imagination. Her photographic work today pulls from these early beginnings, calling forth yearnings, hopes, fears and dreams that make their way into her narrative images.
Today Tami lives in Austin, Texas and engages photography as a means of story telling and self-expression, recognizing that the stories we tell form our personal truths and unique folklore. She believes that our stories, in essence, the way that we choose to interpret ourselves and our world, are significant and have the power to shape our lives, before finally, they become our lives. Her most recent body of work, Mythos, is her ongoing story.
Tami attended The University of Texas, and later in life discovered her interest in photography. Her work has been shown nationally in both invitational group exhibitions and juried exhibitions, and in 2012 will be shown in several solo exhibitions. She has received numerous awards including selection as a 2011 Photolucida Critical Mass Finalist, a Photo Review 2010 Competition Winner, a 2009 Photolucida Critical Mass Finalist and a 2008 Review Santa Fe Participant.
